Logistics Plus

Logistics Plus is a leading worldwide provider of transportation, warehousing and global logistics. Being an organization within an industry that has to follow lots of strict guidelines, Logistics Plus quickly came to the realization that their old pen & paper sign in process was no longer sufficient when it came to adhering to guidelines and creating excellent visitor experiences.

Logistics Plus has been a part of the Sign In App community since 2020 and we recently caught up with Tony Dufala, IT Warehouse Administrator from Logistics Plus, to discuss how the organization is improving experiences with visitor management…

What challenges do you think organizations face today when it comes to visitor management?

It’s really important to make sure visitors have an inviting experience when they come onto your site. You have to make the lobby experience inviting and appealing to the visitors, especially if you don’t have a receptionist there to greet the visitor. We don’t have a receptionist so we like to create a welcoming experience for them through the reception iPad - it’s really easy for visitors to use and we can collect the data we need. Many industries, ours included, have quite a few guidelines to follow and pen & paper sign in often doesn’t cut it when it comes to record-keeping.

What made you look for a visitor management solution?

It was 2020, so you know what that means (Covid-19). Our system was simply pen and paper so if we needed to log something or if the information was requested from us, which it often is, we didn’t have a quick and easy way to do that. I was tasked with investigating and trying out solutions.

We tried a few different solutions, but the cost and customer support with Sign In App made it a clear winner. While we’re only one site, we have multiple iPads around the building and we don’t have to pay extra to have the app running on each one.

And the customer support has been hands down some of the best customer support I have ever dealt with. I can go to the website and chat with the team on live chat. The whole team goes above and beyond to help with our requests.

How are you using Sign In App?

We don’t have a receptionist, so we added an engaging looping video to the homescreen to create an inviting experience for our visitors.

We’re also required to collect Photo IDs from visitors when requested by the government for TSA requirements so we use the photo option to collect these. We then add in our non-disclosure agreements and get visitors to sign them so that we instantly have a record in our portal.

We also use the deliveries feature to track outgoing loads. We’ve created our own custom fields for the information we want to capture; We capture pictures of the information we need to track those. It’s really easy to search for the information we need and export reports.

Why do you think organizations should invest in a VMS?

Record-keeping, safety and peace of mind. As a business, the data you can gather from your visitors is very valuable information to have. You can also learn so much about your business and what’s going on in it.

It goes so much further than just visitor sign in. When you get creative with it, there’s so much more you can do with it.
