2022: Year in review
2022 may have taken the top spot as our best year yet. It’s been another year of milestones, team growth and community growth, but it’s also been the first year in a long time the team has been able to get together multiple times - with many of us meeting for the first time and our global teams finally being able to get together in one room!
For us, 2022 marks the real kick-off of an exciting journey which we’re sharing alongside the Sign In Solutions suite of brands and we’re excited to bring you along in 2023 and beyond. But before we do that, let’s dive into our annual round-up of the year, starting with some stats…
We’ve reached a total of over 100 million sign ins
with a record of over 350,000 sign ins a day
on over 13,800 connected iPads
and 115,000+ connected active companion app users
booking over 1.3 million spaces
in over 12,000 sites across the globe.
Quarter One
Q1 started off the year strong as it was the quarter we hit our first milestone of the year. In February, the Sign In App community grew to 9,000 sites across the globe.
We also released a lot of feature updates including showing groups on specific sites, improvements to Safety+ such as filtering evacuations by personal field, the ability to lock data to avoid temporary deletion, attaching files to pre-registration emails, being able to flag sensitive data on personal fields and bulk companion app invites. Read about all of the Q1 updates in our What’s New blog.
We then ended the first quarter with one of our favorite exhibitions, The Bett Show. Bett is the largest education technology show in the world and every year we look forward to talking to new people about Sign In App in addition to familiar faces in the SIA community.
Quarter Two
If you read our 2021 round-up, you’ll be aware that throughout the year, we advertised on TV for the first time across homes in the UK. In 2022, we extended that campaign to the tube network and offices in the city of London which kicked off in April.
Also in April, some of the team dusted off their running trainers and got stuck in the mud at The Wolf Run - which seems to have become an annual tradition. This year, we were raising money for local charity, Re:Store Northampton.
New feature updates in Q2 included seeing everyone’s bookings in Companion app, a new look for history reports and including personal fields on host notifications. Read more about the updates here.
We ended the first half of the year with Pride Month in June where we donated 10% of new subscriptions to local LGBTQ+ charities, The Lowdown and The Trevor Project. We were delighted to donate over $17,000 across the charities.
Quarter Three
In July, we celebrated hitting not one but two more milestones - 100 million sign ins across 10,000 sites. We took advantage of the rare sunny British weather and had a party at the UK office with a pizza van, cupcakes, games and more treats. Our US and Spain offices threw their own celebrations too and joined the team over Zoom to take part in quizzes.
We made quite a few updates to our Spaces add-on in August, including seeing profile photos or initials on desks that have been booked to allow for better team collaboration, in addition to adding the option to end bookings early. Other feature improvements in Q3 included the ability to set a default language for a group and we added a new custom field type “custom dropdown with other” enabling visitors to provide more information when selecting “other” in a dropdown. Learn more here.
Quarter Four
The last quarter of the year really ended 2022 on a high. In November we were nominated for 3 awards at the Northamptonshire Business Excellence Awards - an awards ceremony close to our head office in the UK. We were nominated for Marketing Campaign of the Year, Business of the Year and Employer of the Year; we were extremely proud to take home the award for Marketing Campaign of the Year for our UK TV advertising campaign.
We also exhibited at The Schools & Academies Show at the NEC, Birmingham in November. It was our first year at the event and we’re already looking forward to returning again in 2023.
We ended the year hitting another milestone of over 12,000 sites and finally celebrated a great year with all of the team, including our teams from US and Spain, at our Christmas Party in London. Dinner and drinks across the River Thames in the capital city was the perfect way to round off the year.
